Dean Hill Photography
Dean Hill was raised on a tobacco farm on the upper reaches of Paint Creek and Paintsville Lake in Morgan County, Kentucky, and grew up working, hunting and exploring the ridges, valleys and hollows of this scenic region.
After living a life in the foothills of the Appalachians, Dean spent 20 years or more traveling and working in Southeast Asia in such countries as Thailand, Nepal, Burma, China, Indonesia and India. These unusual and unique landscapes gave Dean a new perspective and sharpened his powers of observation.
Returning to Kentucky, Dean picked up a camera and began to take workshops and pursue photography seriously as a career. Informed by his many years of observation, travel and life outdoors, Dean set out to capture and showcase the landscapes and culture of Eastern Kentucky. He has produced two books on the subject titled, Appalachia – Spirit of the Seasons and The Spirit of Appalachian Kentucky.”
Dean lives with his wife Karen at the upper end of Paintsville Lake where he pursues photography to showcase the landscapes and culture of his home.
