Edward B. Pope, Science Hill, KY

B. Pope's Wood Turning

wood

Ed Pope, better known as “B,” was born and educated in Kentucky. After graduating from the University of Kentucky, he joined the U.S. Navy. After retiring from the Navy, he turned his woodworking hobby into a full-time custom furniture making business.

“B” found that building custom furniture and creating “one of a kind” pieces was a truly satisfying occupation. However, he is now concentrating his efforts on wood turning. He says that being able to turn burls and special cuts of wood into artistic designs with exceptional beauty is one of the most fulfilling endeavors he has ever undertaken. “B” credits his friend and mentor, professional wood turner, Chris Ramsey, for giving him guidance and direction.

After returning to Kentucky, “B” and his wife built their own home on a beautiful thirty-five acre hilltop in Science Hill. Some of the wood used in his turnings come from this acreage.

“B” is a member of the American Association of Woodturners and the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen.

B’s work can be found at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, Berea, KY.
