Bond Weaving

When Kentucky native, Gail Vaughn, married and moved to Jackson County, her mother-in-law, a weaver at Brockman Weavers in Annville, recommended her for employment there.

Dorothy Brockman, the founder of Brockman Weavers and affectionately known as “Granny,” provided employment opportunities to dozens of women in the area by teaching them the craft of weaving. Gail soon found out that weaving is intricate work with no real shortcut to learning the craft. She states, “You just have to do it for a long time. You have to go slowly to be able to produce consistent quality work – and then you can work on your speed.”

In 1993 Gail left Brockman Weavers to raise her family, but in 2005 she was given a loom and began weaving again at home – creating gifts for family members and friends. Gail has now has her own full-time weaving business, Bond Weaving. Gail’s goal in her business is to create hand-woven place mats and items that are durable, functional and attractive for the home.
