Mike Frasca, Harrodsburg, KY

clay

Michael Frasca studied ceramics, sculpture and photography at the Cincinnati Art Academy, receiving a scholarship in 1972 to travel in Africa. He was founder of Spring Street Pottery in Cincinnati where from 1978-1997 he produced a line of functional pottery and created numerous large scale ceramic commissioned sculptures which can be found throughout the city of Cincinnati. Michael has taught numerous workshops around the country and was a faculty member at Northern KY University, from 1990-1994, teaching wheel work and intermediate ceramics.

Michael creates well thrown forms that are accentuated with a variety of ash glazes he has developed over 20 years. His pottery is meant for table use and is made from high fired stoneware clay. Michael also is adept at creating slab and sculptural works out of clay. He currently sells his work at numerous art fairs around the country and at his studio in Harrodsburg, KY.

Michael’s work can be found at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, Berea, KY; Truth in Materials Gallery, Lexington, KY; and at his studio in Harrodsburg, KY.
