Dan Moffett, Danville, KY

kentucky Rustic

wood

Dan Moffett has been making rustic willow furniture since 1982. He offers a full line of furniture and accessories for adults, children, dolls, and teddy bears. Dan is also known for his willow baskets and teaches basket making at his local arts center.

Artist’s statement: “Willow is a special plant. It grows year round and, when cut, two or more shoots will grow out of the stump of the cut piece. It is almost impossible to kill and, when harvested properly, will continue to grow year after year, cutting after cutting.”

“Acres of willow are being bulldozed and the land filled in to build shopping centers, subdivisions, and factories. Stands of willow are cut down in ditches and utility right of ways.”

“The willow that I use has been rescued and turned into beautiful and useful things. It will live on, bringing you relaxation and peace of mind for many years.”

Dan’s furniture has been featured in national magazines such as Southern Living and Country Decorator.

Dan’s furniture can be found at his workshop in Danville, KY and at the Kentucky Artisan Center in Berea.
