Tracey Buchanan was born and raised in Paducah, KY, where she now lives. She says she has always loved both writing and visual arts. Having earned a degree in journalism from Texas A & M University, she served as the features editor of the Paducah Sun for many years, writing an award-winning column. After raising her children she began to do only free lance writing for such magazines as Paducah Life among others.

The idea for Tracey’s book “Flutterbies” came from years of overhearing conversations in public places. The adage “people say the funniest things” held true for Tracey. She recorded snippets of wit and wisdom she heard and began to illustrate them using simple stick figures with wild hair. Local shops began selling them and her works are now selling all across the country.

Tracey’s parents encouraged her to write a book and when she was accepted into the Kentucky Craft Marketing Program, she got further advice and encouragement. Tracey states, “This book is a marriage of words and art for me, and I have enjoyed sharing these little gems of wit and wisdom with others by creating this book.”
