A native of Memphis, TN, Kristal Maupin KoKinda received her BFA degree in ceramics in 2000 from Eastern Kentucky University. Kristal’s pottery business began with an order from Cracker Barrel Restaurants. Since 2000, Kristal has operated Alley Cat Pottery in her private studio space located in downtown Richmond, KY. When an offer for a space in downtown Richmond, KY came in 2000, Kristal set up her studio in the basement of the old Collins Building (built in 1891) where she operates Alley Cat Pottery.

At Alley Cat Pottery, Kristal makes a line of functional kitchen wares such as apple bakers, batter bowls, egg separators, and cream and sugar sets. She fires her work in an electric kiln and uses smooth oven proof and dishwasher safe glazes.
