Steve Brandenburg, Lexington, KY
wood - carved
Steve Brandenburg is a cabinet maker by trade and automotive enthusiast in his spare time. He has created an eye catching craft by combining his interest in hardwood specialties with his love for the automotive world.
His first piece, a carving of a Chevrolet 350 engine, was meant to be a one-time carving, an interesting piece that would serve as a coffee table for his home. But his carving of automotive subjects didn’t end there. The responses he received from friends and family motivated him to translate many more of his ideas into wood carvings.
He has now completed several pieces, including a 1929 Ford Model A "Woody Wagon," and smaller items associated with automotives such as oil cans and license plates complete with bent edges and holes. Steve is looking to carve not only more automotive themes pieces, but also other subjects. He looks forward to growing as an artist and carving new and contemporary pieces to add to his works.
Carvings by Steve Brandenburg can be found at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, Berea, KY.
