Lorraine Fletcher, Somerset, KY

photography

Originally from Boston, Lorraine Fletcher was encouraged in art by her father and received her BFA in photography and sculpture from Atlanta College of Art in 1979.

She moved to Kentucky in 1989 and settled in Somerset where she and her husband raised their two children. While working various jobs, Lorraine’s love of photography continued to grow.

Her recent discovery of digital photography and the opening of the Carnegie Community Art Center in Somerset have spurred Lorraine’s photography work. She likes the versatility of digital photography as it can be used in so many fields. She enjoys shooting conventional subject matter and sometimes likes to incorporate humor to add an element of surprise to her images.

Lorraine is currently experimenting with drawing on her photographs by printing them onto drawing paper. She is excited by the possibilities of digital photography and as her 21-year old daughter has said, feels like she is going through her own Renaissance!

Works by Lorraine Fletcher can be found at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, Berea, KY.
