Walter Hyleck, Berea, KY

Walter Hyleck has a Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Minnesota in Duluth, and a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from Tulane University, New Orleans. He has been a professor of art at Berea College since 1967, when he started the Ceramics program.

Walter has been visiting artist at Mississippi State University, guest artist at John Abbott College in Montreal, Quebec and at the International Ceramic Symposium in Memphis. He has participated in exhibitions including “Teapot: The Concept and Approach” at Indiana University, “Form and Function II: National Teapot Exhibition” at Craft Alliance Gallery in St. Louis, and “The Harmonious Craft” at Renwick Gallery in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.

Walter’s work can be found at the Kentucky Museum of Art & Craft, in Louisville, KY; and at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, Berea, KY.
